Roanoke College welcomes students with a week of engaging events

Roanoke College offers a variety of activities for the students with campus and student organization sponsored events as well as public venue type events.

Welcome week for the incoming freshmen is an engaging and open-armed time. For the returning students this is the time to settle in and catch up with friends.

August 24 is the day for new student orientation, and August 27 is when day classes start. But in the meantime there are chances for socializing and relaxation.

Monday. August 25: The public event “Welcome Week Comedy Hypnosis Show” will take place in Wortman Ballroom 9-10 p.m. with guest hypnotist Joshua Seth.

Thursday, August 28 – Friday, August 29: The poster sale will be located in the Colket Center-Lower Atrium, and open from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. This event is open to the public.

Friday, August 29: Student Activities Board will be co-hosting the first Friday on the Quad from 4-7 p.m. Along with dinner served on the back quad the Student Organization Activities Fair will be set up. The Activities Fair offers over 100 organization and club options for students to meet and greet, sign-up and participate in.

Friday, August 29: Roanoke College After Dark will be hosting the first bingo night of the academic year from 9-11 p.m. in Bast Gym. This event is closed to the public, however, students have the chance to win over $1,000 in cash and prizes.
