The Roads Hotel was bought July 25, 1893 by Newton Roads for his wife Clara. This will be the first time in history that the hotel deed is in a man's name. Newton and his wife Clara had 2 children; Hazel and Everett. They all died in this hotel. Everett was very sickly and died of TB at the age of 19.
There have been many people walk through the doors of the Roads Hotel. John Dillinger and Al Capone are said to have stayed in the hotel, although this is still unconfirmed it is a great conversation piece!
