Roads around First Niagara Center closed for construction

Heading downtown for a Buffalo Sabres or Bandits game anytime soon? Beginning Wednesday, March 13, several roads around First Niagara Center will be shut down due to the start of construction on the HARBORcenter property. Also beginning Wednesday morning, patrons of the Sabres Store and the arena box office will be able to park in the arena’s parking ramp at no charge.

At 7 a.m. on Wednesday morning, a section of Perry Street between Main and Illinois streets will be closed to all vehicular traffic. Additionally, a block of Washington Street between Perry Street and Scott Street will also be closed to traffic. Main Street and Scott Street will remain open.

Fans that plan on visiting First Niagara Center while the closures are in effect should plan on using Michigan Avenue instead of Washington Street. During First Niagara Center events, the Buffalo Police Department Traffic Division will control all affected intersections and will direct traffic accordingly. Sidewalks on Perry Street (along the front of First Niagara Center) and Washington Street (along the front of HSBC Atrium) will remain open to pedestrians.
