UTSA stunned the Western Athletic Conference on Thursday night as they eliminated the top seeded Louisiana Tech from the Men's Basketball Championship with a 73-67 victory in Vegas.
The win was fueled by Kannon Burrage who managed a double-double through 26 points and 13 rebounds, a career high in a stunning performance.
It was the second time a No. 9 side stunned the top seeded team, after Air Force did the same to Colorado State in 1990.
The first 25 minutes were incredibly tight, featuring seven ties and 15 lead changes before an 11-3 run early in the second half gave UTSA control.
Burrage was at the heart of things for the Roadrunners and the underdogs continued to impress as they built a 62-50 lead with only 4:40 on the clock.
A brief resurgence from LA Tech saw them manage five unanswered points to get back in to the game but UTSA were having none of it.
The Roadrunners were sent to the line for 11 shots in the final stages and closed out the game by making nine of them and heading to the Semi-Final on Friday.
