With over 300 exhibitors, a dozen feature gardens, five seminar stages, and much more, the 2013 Lansing Home and Garden Show packs the MSU Pavilion with everything attendees need to create their dream home and tackle this year’s landscape projects.
This is the show that gives visitors their one chance each year to explore hundreds of local businesses and find all the products and services they need for their homes – inside and outside – in one place. Roofing, replacement windows, kitchen remodeling, refinishing furniture, landscape design – if you can think of it, it’s at the show, offered by area businesses that care about the community.
The show is pleased this year to welcome celebrity antiques appraiser Dr. Lori from the Discovery Channel's hit show, "Auction Kings." She will be offering free appraisals at each of her presentations all weekend, and she will explain the history of pieces that the audience brings in! Free appraisals are limited to 25 per session, so plan to arrive early for each of Dr. Lori's shows.
The LSJ Media Home Stage hosts well-known local designer Leslie Hart-Davidson. Leslie will present seminars, including 50 Shades of Beige, Is Your Relationship Ready for a Remodel?, DIY "Pin"terior Design Projects from Pinterest, and Reduced, Reused & Recycled Design. Plus, the stage offers more seminars with local experts, and is the place for special Family Day presentations on Saturday.
The “Plant Michigan Green” Garden Stage features dozens of expert seminars by members of the Michigan Nursery and Landscape Association in partnership with the Capital Area Landscape and Nurseryman's Association
The Cooking Stage welcomes back audience-favorite Chef Robert Garlough with a brand new seminar series, Great Grains! Garlough will demonstrate recipes that feature some of the healthy whole and ancient grains so popular in current cooking, including: Beluga Lentil Salad, Italian-Styled; Millet Crunch; Toasted Barley Pilaf; and Wild Mushrooms and Quinoa Salad.
Homeowners continue to be excited about great outdoor living spaces. In addition to seeing dozens of great exhibitors with products and services in this area, visitors can also learn how to do-it-themselves with free project seminars at the Stiles Landscape Supply & Stone Stage.
Saturday is Family Day! Children (under 15) get in free until noon, and there are loads of special activities and events for children, parents, and grandparents, including kids' gardening workshops, cool seminars on bats, making oatmeal cookies in a jar, and more. Plus, don't miss the chance to meet Big Lug and Flick, right at the show.
Spectacular indoor Feature Gardens are a "perennial" favorite at the show. This year there are a dozen fully landscaped settings to inspire the inner-gardener in all of us. Spring is just around the corner, but it's already at the show with thousands of blooming perennials and annuals, shrubs and trees, and water gardens.
Flower lovers will also want to visit the Largest Flower Show in the state of Michigan, presented by the Federated Garden Clubs of Michigan, District II B. This year's theme is, "What's in Your Attic?"
