A road trip through the mountains of Vermont is enjoyable all by itself, but I had the fortune of ending up in this spectacular place. The kind worth telling everyone about. While on an errand  I tried to make, the best of it not expecting much as the first trip this way was a foggy, rain swept day. Then we hit here right after the stormed cleared one day and presto great opportunity emerged for us to check this place out.

City of Burlington itself is a college town, with I believe three colleges and the Coast Guard has either a training facility or an Academy as well. The downtown is an urban paradise, filled with artist shops, boutiques of every dimension or style, bistro's catering to the different cultures that meet here and every possible type of coffee shop on the planet. You can pretty much find anything  you need downtown or at the huge shopping centers that seem to ring this small city. From the finest hotels to the cheapest are here to make a stay here quite pleasant.

City of Burlington has 19 Parks and recreation areas listed and many of these can be found at this link, enjoyburlington.com  and more about "The City of Burlington" can be found here.

While there we took a quick trip down to the peer and got these awesome pictures while visiting the Burlington Community Boathouse. One of the best places to sit and watch sailboats ply the lake water's in New England. Come visit Lake Champlain, like us you might get a chance to watch this big ferry come in to the harbor only feet from diners at the end of Burlington's Peer. Not expecting the weather to be just right my digital camera died a quick death while filming on this big lake.

To get here, you take a four hour trip, 239 miles long; from Hartford I-91, straight to I-89. While on I-89 you should visit the Veterans war memorial, which is placed at the first rest stop on I-89. This memorial has the names of the fallen soldiers of Vermont listed on a wall along with a Vietnam Veterans display inside; as well as history about the conflict on display.

Please check out these great photos from City of Burlington's Harbor area. Thank you!
