Road trip show: Catch Lisa Loeb at Davenport's Redstone Room on April 23

Those of us who have lived our whole lives in Iowa know that, sometimes, to catch a certain musical act when they go through the state, you are going to have to make a long road trip. This Wednesday, April 23, is one of those times where you may want to hop in the car and make one of those long drives. Grammy-nominated folk rock star, actress, author, reality star, television host, and fashion eyewear designer Lisa Loeb will be performing at the Redstone Room in Davenport, Iowa. Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. 19-and-over show are $25, and there are only a few remaining. Nashville folk rock singer Dan Tedesco will open the show.

Lisa Loeb exploded to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in 1994 thanks to a little help from actor Ethan Hawke. Hawke helped get her a song included on the Reality Bites movie soundtrack, and then helped her film a video for the song. That song, "Stay (I Missed You)", would become a platinum-selling #1 single and earn Loeb a Grammy-nomination. (You can check out the song in the embedded video.) Loeb was the first artist to ever top the Billboard singles chart without a record deal. Loeb released her ninth studio album in 2013. No Fairy Tale was named one of Renowned for Sound's "Best Albums of 2013" despite not achieving a great deal of commercial or radio success.

Loeb's career expanded to other media quickly after her initial success. While she has only had two more Top 20 singles, Loeb began to act and write as well. She has acted or done voice work in The Rugrats Movie, House on Haunted Hill, Spider-Man: The Animated Series, Fright Night, Doc McStuffins, Jake and the Never Land Pirates and many more big-screen and small-screen projects. She began recording children's CDs and writing children's books in 2003. Loeb also now has her own eyewear collection, her own brand of coffee, and her own non-profit organization.
