Easter weekend brings crowded freeways, so of course the California Department of Transportation (Cal Trans) has decided to close I-215 in the Riverside area this weekend. If you have any plans to go to Riverside or pass through the Riverside area on the 215, please read this notice - especially for the Easter Holiday weekend.
Right now they are planning these road closures in April but it could be extended. Please be patient and drive safely.
The current schedule calls for full closure of both north- and south-bound lanes on I-215 for Fridays and Saturdays April 18, 19, 25, and 26, and from 11:30 p.m. to 11:30 a.m. the following day (except Easter Sunday, April 20, when it reopens at 6:00 a.m.
The official "Commuter Alert" states:
Caltrans District 8 would like to thank the public for their cooperation throughout the “I-215 Spring Sting” closures. Due to the precision planning and preparation by the contractor, Ames Construction, Inc., in conjunction with Stinger Bridge and Iron, the success of the railroad bridge work has not required Saturday night closures of I-215 to date between Riverside and San Bernardino.
