It's been five days since "The Event" and here I find myself writing for the first time back in my headquarters here in the Nap.
First of all, there's plenty to be written. I just needed a couple of days to recharge my batteries after everything we did in Dallas-- and we accomplished a LOT!
From my media duties in getting interviews with boxing's biggest personalities like Bob Arum, Freddie Roach, Manny Pacquiao down to other sports figures like Hall of Fame former NFL player Michael Irvin, Jerry Jones, down to our charity efforts and extra-curricular activities, it's safe to say, we did Dallas right.
First order of business is to give my loyal readers the inside scoop of what went down in Dallas.
So without further ado, in "Halo-Halo" fashion, here's some random stuff from Pacquiao-Clottey in Dallas last week:
THE FIGHT
The Event that was supposed to make a bang, actually yielded a whimper. I'm sorry, that fight was simply underwhelming.
Pacquiao tried his hardest, even allowing and inviting himself to get hit at times, but Clottey simply didn't want to literally and figuratively, come out of his shell.
I guess the Ghanaian prided himself more for not being able to get touched than actually making history and defeating the best fighter in the world. Call it a million dollar sparring session because that was what it looked like.

PACQUIAO'S PERFORMANCE
Despite Clottey's reluctance to engage, the bout should be taken as a compliment to Pacquiao's abilities. He shut out and made a coward out of one of the world's best welterweights.
A coward you ask? Yes. Clottey was afraid to get hit and take risks even in the final round wherein he knew he surely needed a knockout to score a victory. How can you justify that?
Clottey, who is an absolute gentleman and a classy guy outside the ring, simply did not have the heart to dethrone the greatest fighter of this era.
Pacquiao bombarded him with punches and kept him at bay all night long even during his spurts and rallies. After the fight, Clottey told the media that gathered for the post-fight press conference in the indoor parking area of the Dallas Stadium that for the first time he felt he lost in his career and that Pacquiao's speed surprised him. Well, it doesn't take a Sherlock to make that observation.
DALLAS STADIUM
Jerry Jones' brobdingnagian new stadium was everything they said it was-- and then some! That place is gorgeous and they truly know how to throw a party. I can't wait to go back there for another boxing event or even a UFC card (Dana White was in the building and watched the fight).
Everything was well organized and spaced out. The much talked about big screen should become a staple in all stadiums. That was a thing of beauty and definitely enhances the experience of sports fans watching an event.
The best part, after the event, it wasn't difficult to get out at all thanks to the well laid out traffic scheme and system they have in place over there. Real revolutionary and innovative stuff!

YOU CANNOT BLAME CLOTTEY FOR THAT BIG FIGHT... HE WAS REALLY INTIMIDATED WITH PACMANS SPEED! HE WASNT ABLE TO COPE WITH IT... I THINK HE DID HIS BEST... WATCHING HIS PREVIOUS FIGHTS, I NEVER SEEN CLOTTEY DID THAT THING NOT UNTIL HE FOUGHT PACMAN... THATS ALL HE GOT, BUT PACMAN IS JUST TOO DAMN GOOD! HE REALY AN EXOTIC FIGHTER THATS VERY HARD TO FIND.
Great article! It was honest, to the point and not too long. A lot of the authors said the same thing you said but in too many words. Keep it up.
I think that's the way clottey plays his game. he is a good fighter. It's just happen that pacquiao is too much good..too much speed..and too much talent. I still believe that hatton and dela hoya can still fight, its just happen that they fought the greatest fighter of all time. It just happen that they fought the greatest boxer who ever live.
Dennis,I personally would not call anyone a coward specially anyone who has over 30 professional boxing fights, maybe at least 30 more amateur fights, and countless sparring sessions against other men who are skilled in taking other people's head off with their bare hands. We the fans, writers, and so called experts have no right to call these men cowards until we fight for living and even just be in a real fight (not some weekend workout sparring at the gym with your beer buddies). I'm sorry you did not get your money's worth by not seeing somebody laid out on a stretcher but if it makes you feel any better I paid $50 to watch this fight and I too was somewhat disappointed in the lack of action albeit I was happy with the outcome. But like I said I really have no business calling anyone like Clottey a coward (BTW I have been in three real street fights in my life but still not enough to call anyone a coward). Anyway mabuhay bro!
Clottey just stepped in for the fat pay check! Period!
I THINK NOBODY IS INTERESTED TO WATCH CLOTTEYS NEXT FIGHT IF THERE IS ANY, HE DOES NOT DESERVE TO EARN A MILLION IN HIS LAST FIGHT. HE IS PROUD THAT HE WAS NOT KNOCK OUT EVERSINCE, BUT LOOK WHAT HE DID HE IS JUST COVERING HIS FACE AND BODY NO TIME TO RETALIATE, IN SHORT HE IS A PUNCHING HUMAN BAG.
Pacquiao is a blessing to everyone except Floydie Jr. For sports writers, there are a lot of interesting topics to write about Pacquiao because of his out-of-this-world great performance, great skills, humble beginning, his extra-ordinary training regimen, his friendliness, humility, his other talents outside the ring, exciting styles, warm interaction with fans, being religious, being a perpetual student of sweet science, his ambitions, his ingenuity, class act, honesty inside and outside of the ring, diplomacy, his ability to transcend other sports and fields of society, his impact on the Filipino life and people of the world, his impact on the local economy of a host fight venue, etc. etc. For Floydie Jr, you can only write about his boxing skills and nothing more and nothing more.
How easy it is indeed to downgrade a person when he fails to perform what he is supposed to do for the benefit of the audience. One fight and all the previous fights are forgotten; even being tagged as a coward! I do not believe for a moment that Clottey is a coward. Was he a coward fighter when he fought Cotto or Zab Judah? Com'on. Be nice. Have you ever taken notice to body language of a person? Watch him again during the press conference or the weigh in; touching gloves every round and hugging Pacquiao at the start of the 12th round, and how he showed his admiration to Pacquiao after the fight. I believe he was awed by Pacquiao because he is his idol. Persnally, I believe Clottey will beat any welterweights other than Pacquiao.
CLOTTEY KNOW WHAT HE DOING,IF HE REALLY FIGHT PACMAN HE WILL GET K.O.BECAUSE PACMAN LOOKING SHARP. DID YOU SEE!!!!!!!! SIDE TO SIDE!!BANG,BANG,BANG,BANG,BANG,BANG,BANG,BANG,BANG!!! AND ABOUT MAYWEATHER, LIKE WHAT ROBERTO DURAN SAID "NO MAS".
blame it on pac cos he's so good. clottey can't keep up. pac made the fight boring for being so good. :D
What boring fight?
Joshua was in awe with Manny. He adored him so much he kept his face hidden all night coz he was very shy..:-D
On a serious note, the problem here was we were used of seeing Pacquiao knocking out his past few opponents. We got spoiled a bit. So when Manny didn't KO his opponent, we were disappointed. We thought he did not perform well. We also blamed Clottey in the process.
Let's just cherished Pac's victory. I thought he performed well. Hats off to Clottey for stepping up to the plate and did not demand olympic drug testing.
Clottey cover his face like a shield, Floyd run n slip punches two defensive warrior both will used Pacmans Popularity to make millions then go away.
ponderings?
how about MMA-My Mom's Anus getting pounded by Iraquis at Guantanamo as their entertainment
MMA loved it
i beleive clottey see a no win situation to the fight that he choose to go defense but then fans rather have an all out offense which would have him put to the next level he had it let go of the oppurtunity.
"The Sweet Sciences" site is a racist site that let anything be said about Filipinos. The editor, Mike Woods, of that site is a skinhead hater and a negrophile who is overly protected of negroes and a watermelon, who is fond of issuing out insults. Manny is the best fighter of all times, period. Woods is group mentality racist.
clottey was indeed in a no win situation against manny on that fight. he figured out if he opens he will be knocked down. if he goes a defensive he wont win, well, good choice for him bad fight for us. next time i wont watch a defensive fighters like floyd and clottey, they will bore you to death.
Pacquiao said in Philippine tv about floyds reaction to pacquiao calling him out Pacquiao said "IT'S OKAY WE MUST UNDERSTAND THEM AND BE GLAD BECAUSE IT SHOWS THAT WE ARE MORE INTELLIGENT THAN THEM(MAYWEATHERS &CO.)WE UNDERSTAND WHAT'S RIGHT FROM WRONG....
clottey went there to beat someone. and that man is roach. so, he did win by proving roach is wrong and he didn't get ko'ed.
why do defensive fighters obsess so much with their zero? lol
Manny Pacquiao stands alone on top of the boxing world. Floyd gave up his pound for pound title when he retired. Manny Pacquaio deservedly took the pound for pound crown Mayweather left behind because Mayweather retired, and when one retires you can't take the crown with you. Those are the rules. Several months ago Mayweather sensing that a new and brighter star was threatening to erase everyones memory of him hurried his way back in the boxing scene. By all means Floynalduckie Mayweather welcome back. Talking about the word back, If you want that crown back then shot your odorfull mouth and fight Manny Pacquaio in the ring because that is the only, I mean the only way to get it back.
Did anybody notice that two-fisted clapping punch to the head(pompyang) that Manny did to Clottey? Is that really illegal? Have seen that in the movies, but not in a real boxing match. I think it was Manny's way of telling Clottey how ridiculous he is in his shell defense. Too bad, the ref won't allow it, but that punch could of KO Clottey.
The Dsource, where is my Manny Pacquiao FREE t-shirt.
Pacquaio is the BEST and yes, the stadium is truly a beauty saw it on TV. I would like to watch boxing live event there someday.
SOMETIMES WHEN SOMEONE IS OVERWHELMED THERE'S REALLY NOTHING TO DO BUT TO PROTECT YOURSELF TO SURVIVE!! SURVIVAL WITH WITH MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IS WHAT THE CLOT DID!! IT WOULD HAVE BEEN WORSE FOR THE CLOT HAD HE QUIT OR RAN OUTSIDE THE RING!! HE COULDN'T FLY EITHER!!
WHO KNOWS,NEXT TIME HE STEPS IN THE RING HIS SECONDS COULD BE PREPARED TO THROW IN ---- HIS WINGS!!! THANKS TO HIM HE FAILED THE AUDIENCE THEIR EXPECTATION OF AN EXCITING FIGHT!! HE IS ANOTHER BORING FIGHTER!! NEVER AGAIN HE SHOULD BE MATCHED WITH AN EXCELLENT FIGHTER!! NUNCA JAMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i need to change my name.
i've been slapped around and beat up by balut eating Pinoys.
Mama i need help.
can i get some balut?
dont want salt, i want me some patis
floydfan still alive and still smelly
I take back what I've said during my post fight interview after my fight with Manny Pacquioa.Once again I dont consider myself losing that fight with Pacquiao. With Margarito fight I hurt my hands, with Baldomir I was disqualified, with Cotto fight I was robbed and with Pacquiao I had the runs before the fight due to an upset stomach and also made me weak!
We watched there at the Cowboys Stadium all the way from Houston. The Pacquiao-Clottey was not that boring but was lacking in action and excitement due to Clottey's cowardice. Namuti ang itlog kay Pacquiao. In our section, I can hear and sense that the fans were about to boo because of Clottey's inability to engage. The rounds went by so very fast. Then the fight is over. No highlights. No knockdown. no knockout. Nagkalat lang si Clottey. Pasayaw-sayaw pa ang ugok. Ayaw naman pa lang sumuntok. Clottey engaged more when he fought Cotto than Pacquiao. I don't know why Pacquiao didn't use his hooks when Clottey's ears are open. I noticed also that Pacquiao offense - the body attacks was not sustained. He was takingf a breather that's why Clottey didn't go down. CLOTTEY IS A BIG BLACK PUSSY. He turned the event into a dud.
THE EVENT was promoted with 'descency' meaning without the hype of 'trash talking' between the the two boxers and yet. and yet almost 51,000 came to watch the fight. Those who came should be congratulated for being the NEW role models of THE BOXING FANS because you came there to watch a great fight though unfortunately the other boxer failed to deliver. I salute you all for not only being just ordinary fans of boxing but INTELLIGENT ONES as well.
Hypocrite people should be put to a firing squad. They are the one who make their own rules and yet they are the one who breaks it. They're wanted to make the circle earth into a square for their own identities & personal interest. The verdict should be a sure ball hit of bullets to their heads.
Great job Dennis. Keep us updated.
Clottey deserves far more credit than what people are giving him. Calling him a coward is such an egotistic comment. So what if Clottey is defensive through out the fight, he was able to throw really good counters at Manny. I'm am all the way Manny fan but giving a person crap because they think the person sucks is so immature (i want to use a more aggressive word but I can't think of anything that is appropriate, you guys can just fill it in I guess). Clottey put up a good fight in front of the crowd especially for a fighter that no one really knows about. I read this review before watching the fight and clearly this review is one sided. I was expecting Manny to beat the crap out of Clottey, and he did, but not as I imagined when I was reading this.
"Everything was well organized"
"The best part, after the event,it wasn't difficult to get out at all"
you gotta be kidding."everything was well organized"?????ohhh really...i don't know how many times you've watch a live boxing match in Vegas but in Vegas people can't just get up and walk down the aisle and take pictures while there is action going on and or meet and greet friends in the middle of the aisle while there is an action going on.In Vegas they don't care who you are, when there's action going on in the ring it doesn't matter who is fighting, you have to wait if you wan't to go back to your seat,if you wan't to go to the rest room.cocktail waitresses wait till there is no action in the ring before they take orders from customers.not in Texas buddy.
"wasn't difficult to get out" again really.you must have parked near the Texas Rangers Stadium that's why you were able to get out quickly.
this is a wasted 7th row away form the ring seats.
i hope you reply.
im sure glad he knows how to protect his head coz he'll end down like what pacquiao did to hatton and clottey... hooray to clottey's trainer...
