The RNC launched a new health care policy website last week in its ongoing effort to oppose HR 3200, America’s Affordable Health Choices Act, President Obama's effort to overhaul health care.
The site features video statements by Michael Steele, Chairman of the RNC, as well as a few other videos and news items. It also features a "maze" that reportedly depicts the complexity of the Obama health care reform plan. This maze is reminiscent of a similar one that was prominently used by Republicans during the Clinton administration to successfully oppose his health care reform plan.
It is unclear what role this site will play in the RNC's effort to affect the legislative debate. In light of the intense legislative efforts now ongoing in the House, and the massive news and blog coverage of the debate, this effort from the RNC seems, at best, paltry.
It is difficult to see how it will have any affect on the debate or legislative effort whatsoever. It is almost as if the RNC has realized that they need to use Internet technology to better reach and serve their constituency, but they have no means of implementing an effective strategy.
This seems especially true in light of the flap generated by an RNC online game that was pulled after it was found to display anti-semitic and pornographic material. The expressed urgency of the RNC in countering Democratic health care initiatives is also belied by Republican efforts to regulate college football.

GOOD FOR THEM!!! Obama's health care plan is HORpRIBLE and if it passes, our it will be very bad. Health care WILL be rationed. Even Obama said it... he'd give "pain pills" vs. life saving surgeries, etc. to someone who is elderly (like my parents!). Obama is a NUTCASE and those who voted for him WILL ultimately regret it once they finally OPEN THEIR EYES and see him for who he really is... an egotistical, socialistic man on a power trip!! He doesn't care about people. He cares about HIS agendas, getting HIS way, and doing HIS thing. It's all about him, and the media feeds his ego, as do other liberals. It's sick, it's wrong, and he is DESTROYING this nation!!!!
