Stage, television and film actress Rena Strober is slated to headline the 2011 Celebrity Industry Invitational, an all-star showcase executive-produced by Jay D. Pugh, president and CEO of RK Records/Run-D.M.C. Productions. The free event takes place on Saturday, April 2 at 7pm, in the Garden Pavilion at Celebrity Centre International in Hollywood.
HOLLYWOOD, CA – Out of more than 400 candidates considered for the role of emcee for the 2011 Celebrity Industry Invitational, RK Records of Beverly Hills announced today it has hand-picked accomplished Broadway actress Rena Strober to headline its annual showcase of young, exceptional talent.
Strober is recognized nationally for her critically-acclaimed role of Cosette in the Broadway production of the Tony award-winning musical “Les Misérables.” During a yearlong engagement -- which began in 2009 -- the versatile singer and dancer also played Tzeitel, the second female lead in the Broadway national tour of “Fiddler on the Roof.”
At New York City's Lincoln Center, Strober performed alongside operatic tenor Michael Amante, known famously for his lead performances in the historic musicals “West Side Story,” “Grease” and “Jesus Christ Superstar.”
Strober's golden achievements in regional musical theatre include “Man of La Mancha”; the female lead in “Beauty and the Beast”; and “Zhivago,” from which she received the prestigious Outer Critics Circle award in San Diego.
With a pitch-perfect voice and effervescent personality, Strober often sings a capella and has recorded albums for Capital Records, Littlehorse Music and Disney's sing-along book collection. She has guest-starred on several primetime episodics, including NBC's “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” and “Kings.” In addition, families with young children can hear her voice in “3rd and Bird,” a Saturday morning cartoon. Adult females recognize her as the face of Playtex bras.
Strober's debut album, “Finding Home,” is the soundtrack to her one-woman show, “Spaghetti & Matzo Balls.”
At 7:00 p.m. on April 2 in the Garden Pavilion at Celebrity Centre International in Hollywood, Strober will appear in person to present to industry executives 20 of southern California's more talented young artists between ages nine and 24 who are primed and ready to strike a television, film or recording deal.
The free event is executive-produced by Jay D. Pugh, president and CEO of RK Records/Run-D.M.C. Productions.
“The artists on our roster will blow your mind,” said Pugh, a platinum-award-winning music producer, who has collaborated on albums with Michael Jackson, Rick James and Prince, among others. “All they need is a chance to be seen by the right executives. It's time to give these hard-working young folks some extra wings.”
“As a successful artist, I feel it's my duty to encourage the next generation of talented singers, dancers and actors,” said Strober. “Being an artist isn't always an easy life. But when you're surrounded by the love and support of those artists who have made it, you can do anything.”
