ABC Family's Switched at Birth has added a Breaking Bad star to its third season cast. RJ Mitte will come in as Campbell, a "pre-med college student paralyzed by a snowboarding accident who works in the free clinic with Daphne."
"I love Switched at Birth, it's super exciting to work with such an awesome cast," Mitte, who has already begun filming his episodes, said in a statement to the press.
As you saw in the second season finale, Daphne (Katie Leclerc) had to face the music (well, the judge) after admitting to what she and her short-term boyfriend Jace got up to with blackmailing a Senator and breaking into his office to hack into his phone and erase messages. It certainly appears like she's going to be paying for those crimes on an on-going basis, and this is community service work. But will her relationship with Mitte's character prove to turn her around from her "bad boy" phase-- or will he have a bit of an edge to him, too? You'll just have to tune in to find out!
“We are thrilled to cast such a phenomenal and unique actor as RJ. Our show is about diversity and telling stories about people from all walks of life, and when we created the part of Campbell, we knew RJ was the perfect person to embody him. The character is charismatic, funny, and a bit of a ladies' man, and we think Breaking Bad fans will enjoy seeing Walt, Jr. in a totally different light," series creator Lizzy Weiss said.
Switched at Birth returns to ABC Family in 2014.
