TNT's popular crime drama "Rizzoli & Isles" premiered its fifth season on TNT cable television on Tuesday, June 17, 2014. "Rizzoli & Isles" stars Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander as a mismatched crime fighting duo in Boston, Mass. The series also stars Jordan Bridges, Bruce McGill and Lorraine Bracco. The #Rizzoli&Isles Facebook page has the latest news from the show.

"Rizzoli & Isles" stars Angie Harmon as street-wise detective Jane Rizzoli and Sasha Alexander as super-smart fashion-plate medical examiner Maura Isles. The two women share an offbeat chemistry and a deep friendship.

This season will deal with the real life death of actor Lee Thompson Young, who played Detective Barry Frost. Tragically, Young committed suicide in Aug., 2013 at the age of 29.

"Goodbye," the episode debuting on June 24, will show the homicide squad saying goodbye to their friend and colleague Detective Frost (Young). The season premiere ended with the death of the detective in an automobile accident. His body was laying on the street in a body bag while the shocked detectives gathered at the scene. The episode's preview shows Jane speaking about her partner at his memorial.

Jane Rizzoli (Harmon) announced her pregnancy to Maura Isles (Alexander) in the season four finale and the news was announced again in the season five premiere. Jane's pregnancy offers the opportunity for comic relief, as the normally tough detective suffers morning sickness and quesiness at inopportune moments.

Rizzoli has decided not to marry her fiance because she does not want to follow him around in his military deployments in warzones in the Middle East. Jane's interferring mother Angela (Bracco) guesses her secret but promises Maura that she will keep it to herself. Meanwhile, taciturn Jane has nightmares about how motherhood might turn her into her ever-cheerful smothering mother.

Maura and Jane's brother Frankie (Bridges) are flirting with romantic notions. Jane warns Maura off, not wanting her brother to be hurt.

The cast of Rizzoli & Isles includes: Angie Harmon ("Law & Order") as Det. Jane Rizzoli; Sasha Alexander ("NCIS") as Dr. Maur Isles; Jordan Bridges as Det.Frankie Rizzoli Jr.; Bruce McGill as Sgt. Det. Vince Korsak; and Lorraine Bracco ("The Sopranos") as Angela Rizzoli.

"Rizzoli & Isles" is based on novels by best-selling crime writer Tess Gerritson and developed for television by Janet Tamaro. The series is produced for TNT by Warner Horizon Television and Bill Haber’s Ostar Productions. Haber, Michael Katleman and showrunner Jan Nash serve as executive producers.
