Jane: “I am not aroused by Martinez.”
Maura: “It is nothing to be ashamed of. Most women experience a sexual rush around bad boys.”
“Built for Speed” is tonight’s all new episode of “Rizzoli & Isles.” If you haven’t seen this episode, beware of spoilers. “Rizzoli & Isles” airs Tuesday nights at 8 on TNT, channel 36 for Houstonians.
The latest case is a street race gone bad. Alberto Santana dies via car explosion. It’s a flashy way to go. Maura spends most of the case getting close to BT aka Brandon Thomas aka Bomb Tech. Because of this, there isn’t much time spent in autopsy. Normally some of the breakthroughs happen after Maura finds something on the body. Instead, this episode is all about the car and restoring items found in the car. It’s a change of pace. Unfortunately, the writers don’t show a lot of Maura flirting with BT. They mostly just talk shop. Are you hoping that BT makes another appearance?
Jane and Lt. Raphael Martinez have an interesting chemistry. When the two of them are playing nice, it’s great to watch. The scenes where Raphael is flirting and Jane is shutting him down are fantastic, especially when there is banter involved. Anytime the two of them decide to be a little hostile, it’s annoying. It’s rare that there is a pairing on a TV show that you can enjoy part of the time they are together, and then want them to go away the next. The writers need to find a better way to handle the hostility between Jane and Raphael. There isn’t a moment where you are wishing that they would make up. Mostly it is a wish for something else to happen so that their scene together is over. Does anyone else feel this way?
Here are quick thoughts on elsewhere in the episode. Getting read into Raphael’s case actually helps viewers to understand a bit more of Alberto’s homicide. The writers make it interesting as well as informative. Plus, it’s great to watch another case, even if it is just for a moment. It’s a glimpse into more of the Boston Police Department. Giovani returns! He is always a hilarious character. In this episode, he’s nothing too important, but he still manages to get some laughs. Did you enjoy seeing Giovani again?
