“A New Day” is the June 17 episode of “Rizzoli & Isles.” If you haven’t seen this episode, beware of spoilers. “Rizzoli & Isles” airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. central on TNT.

Oh right, Jane is pregnant. I had forgotten that is where the last season ended. This episode picks up with her not really telling anyone, aside from Maura. The decision to also have this episode contain baby kidnapping is a little much. It feels like the writers wanted to show how the pregnancy is affecting Jane emotionally, and so the only way to do that is by having a baby being kidnapped. Honestly, I would have preferred that this case only be a murder. What do you think?

Speaking of the case, it’s alright. It isn’t really complex. I was suspicious of Kaitlin the minute she was so reassuring about why the police need an alibi. The people who you think did it, did it. There isn’t even an intense interrogation scene really. Also, Maura saying that the stabbings feel personal seemed out of character to me. I could see Jane making that comment, actually anyone but Maura. She hates to guess. Why would she be okay with guessing the feelings of the attacker?

Angela figuring out and testing Jane is a highlight of the episode. She isn’t an idiot. I wish Angela would have taken her suspicions to someone else like Korsak or Frankie. Her scene with Maura is absolutely great though. It just puts a smile on your face, especially when Maura is trying to wrap her head around her hands telling Angela that Jane is pregnant.

What did you think of the episode? The next episode is going to be nonstop crying, I can already tell. Leave me your thoughts in a comment below.
