A beautiful building with a gorgeous view of Santa Barbara, the Riviera Theatre is not only a great venue to watch movies, but also a place of history.
Also known as Riviera Fine Arts Centre, the theater used to be a part of the UC Santa Barbara campus. Visitors can read about the history of UC Santa Barbara at a miniature exhibit inside the Theatre.
Originally, Riviera Theatre was an auditorium building designed by Alfred Eichler in 1926. Eichler designed many of the buildings at the old Riviera Campus as well as UCSB’s Mesa Campus, which is now the campus for Santa Barbara City College.
Located at 2044 Alameda Padre Serra, Santa Barbara, Riviera Theatre now shows art and foreign films. Films are typically show twice per day, once around 5 p.m. and once around 8 p.m. Currently, the Theatre is playing Broken Embrace, also known as Los Abrazos Rotos.
