Richard Henry, of the 1100 block of W. 26th Street in Riviera Beach, Fla. was arrested on Tuesday and charged with animal cruelty for leaving his two dogs tethered to trees with no food or shelter as reported by the Palm Beach Post. Henry, 53. remains in the Palm Beach County Jail.
The two dogs, a male and female red pit bull terriers were left chained in Henry's yard; their ribs, spines and hips showing. When Palm Beach Animal Care and Control officials questioned Henry about the undernourished and obvious neglected condition of the dogs, Henry said the one dog had been poisoned, but never received any veterinarian care.
The dogs were seized by Animal Control, including a chihuahua who had been living in the house.
The two pit bulls did not survive. The chihuahua was adopted.
Henry has had previous warnings from Animal Care and Control about the condition of his dogs, and was told not to tether them and get them up to an acceptable and healthy weight. Sadly, the words obviously fell on death ears.
Rest in peace innocent dogs.
