The three people in the home escaped without harm, but the 1928 building was a total loss, according to Ormond Beach City spokesperson Loretta Moisio. The fire at 220 North Beach Street started in the basement of the home, and smoke could also be seen seeping out of the roof at mid-morning Sunday. The cause of the fire was unknown as of early Sunday morning, and the State Fire Marshall was called in to conduct an investigation. The home was valued at around $300,000. Units responding to the blaze in addition to the Ormond Beach Fire Department, included crews with the Daytona Beach and Holly Hill Fire Departments and the Volusia County Fire Services.
