Riverside explosion: A sudden explosion in Riverside blasted away most of a suburban home, leaving only destruction, debris, and fire in its wake. Although there are fortunately no reports of any injuries or deaths caused by the fireball, the home is almost irreparably destroyed. It is believed that the source of the fire may have originated in the garage, added one neighbor who witnessed the explosion, Mercury News reports this Friday, Sept. 6.
The Riverside explosion that blasted away the greater part of a Riverside home was said to occur in the very early morning this Friday. It wasn’t even dawn yet, so the sound of the sudden detonation booming through the middle of the night must have given the local neighborhood a very real scare.
As evidenced by photos and media reports on the Riverside explosion, the damage that the house sustained was incredible. Most footage reveals only debris in the home’s remains, and even a gas-pipe fire that was still aflame in the aftermath of the blast.
According to one neighbor, Craig Erickson, the sheer force of the Riverside explosion was enough to wake up his entire family. Although Erickson lives a bit down the road, the blast’s power was enough to shake two of the doors in his home off the hinges. The neighbor added that although the detonation was completely unexpected, the home was in the middle of extensively modeling. It was his opinion that the family who owned the Riverside house and recently moved away, and that the blast could have started in the garage.
Police are currently looking into the cause of the explosion. A gas leak is the suspected culprit behind the seeming bomb that rocked the house, and the home has been placed off-limits to the public until official examination of the site is complete.
