Friday January 3, 2013 will begin the trial run of the Riverside-Avondale Night Trolley.
The Jacksonville Transportation Authority launches its Riverside-Avondale Night Trolley from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday and it will run at the same times on Saturday, January 4.
The trolley will continue on subsequent Friday and Saturday nights during the first weekend of each month through June 2014.
The Night Trolley could become permanent if JTA feels ridership warrants it.
The Night Trolley will stop throughout the neighborhood residential and commercial districts in 5 Points, Park and King Streets, the Avondale Shopping District, the area’s “Brewery District,” Stockton and College Streets and the St. Johns Village area. A mobile-optimized website will show current route locations of the trolleys on each night.
One ride passes can be purchased for $1.50 with exact change on the trolley. Seniors (60 and older) ride free. Unlimited-ride single-day passes are $4 each, and can only be purchased in advance - 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Riverside Arts Market, or at various businesses in the Riverside-Avondale neighborhood.
Remember to drink responsibly, don't drink and drive, take the trolley instead.
Just look for the sign
Every JTA stop on the Riverside Avondale Night Trolley route has a sign posted. To find your closest stop, check the trolley route map first. It will tell you which streets the trolley travels. Then look for the stop signs along the route. They are located every few blocks.
