Are you thirsty? A person quenches his or her parched and dry throat with a refreshing glass of lemonade or sweet tea by stopping by a restaurant that serves tea, sodas, shakes, and water, etc. Aww! That was good! Finally, a drink hits the spot and the thirst is satisfied at least temporarily. Moments later, thirst comes knocking and the mouth begins to search for a way to answer the door. The realization of thirst does not register and instead a snack is eaten like a piece of fruit. Hunger and thirst are sometimes confused. One may eat thinking that they are hungry when actually they are thirsty. This may cause unnecessary eating though Food does contain water, but it is not sufficient to meet the appropriate daily allowance.
Again, are you thirsty? This time is it spiritual thirst. The soul is dry and restless. TV, other people, and even religious activities are consumed to quench the thirst only leaving behind the lack of fulfillment. There is only one way for quenching the spiritual thirst. God meets it with the “water of life.” He gives it freely as a gift. No need for money. The refreshing drink is Jesus Christ that hits the spiritual thirsty spot. Believers receive continuous flow from the Holy Spirit to satisfy spiritual hunger and thirst. He reminds them of all Jesus taught.
The water of life is throughout eternity. In fact, the Holy Bible speaks of a river of it. Believers will enjoy God and Jesus forever and ever. No more hunger or thirst. God invites all who would come to drink the “water of life” and be satisfied.
Believer, you have received the water of life! Invite the spiritual thirsty to come and drink from a relationship with Jesus Christ. He has promised water that is free and fulfills the spiritual thirst never again to be thirsty. Amen.
“He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.” (Revelation 21:6)
