The Albuquerque Isotopes failed to muster any offense in a 5-0 loss to the host Sacramento River Cats on Thursday night. Deck McGuire, in his first start for Sacramento, combined with three relievers on a six-hitter.

McGuire (1-0) was acquired from the Blue Jays organization last Friday. He scattered five hits, walked two and struck out two in six innings of work.

Tucker Healy, Seth Frankoff and Jeremy McBryde finished the game for Sacramento (64-49). They combined to allow just one hit while striking out four in three innings.

The game was scoreless until the fourth inning. Former Isotope Nick Buss led off with a single and Andy Parrino drew a walk.

Two batters later, Nate Freiman smoked a two-run double to left field. Freiman then came around to score on Alden Carrithers' two-out, ground-rule double to right.

Freiman later added a solo home run in the sixth inning. Buss finished 3-for-4 with an RBI.

Albuquerque (53-60) had its best scoring opportunity in the fifth inning. Jamie Romak drew a leadoff walk and Mike Baxter singled to put runners at the corners, only to see McGuire get two flyouts sandwiched around a lineout to end the frame.

Zach Lee (6-10) gave up four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out three in six innings. Matt Magill gave up a run in one-third of an inning before Colt Hynes finished the game with 1.2 scoreless innings.

Tim Federowicz went 2-for-4 with a double for the Isotopes. Clint Robinson was 1-for-4 with a double.

Joc Pederson was 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. Alex Guerrero, playing left field, went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout.

Albuquerque will go for the series split against Sacramento on Friday at 8:05 p.m. The Isotopes will send right-hander Jeff Bennett (5-5, 3.84 ERA) up against River Cats lefty Drew Pomeranz (0-0, 3.68).
