Down on the Indian River in Oak Hill, Florida is a riverside park at 250 H.H. Burch Road. Known as River Breeze Park the site is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. Leaving US Highway 1, drive down a two lane asphalt paved roadway to the entrance. In the 37 acre park remnants of an old citrus grove are in evidence. With 5 acres of shoreline, the park is a draw for waterfowl, manatee, dolphin, otters, raccoons and other wildlife.
River Breeze Park is sheltered by old growth oaks, palms and other trees. Picnic tables are available on a first come first serve basis. The handicap accessible concrete walkways allow visitors of all abilities a chance to stroll the perimeter. Fishing is allowed along the raised boardwalk and lighted fishing pier but not along the riverbank. There are plenty of paved parking spaces and spaces for boat trailers. Boating enthusiasts will appreciate the free boat launch in the park and can bring motorboats, canoes and kayaks to the launch area. Revving boat engines and creating large wakes are prohibited as park officials attempt to control river bank erosion and protect the environment.
