River Bend Film Festival Kick-off Kicks...well, you know!

The Indiana University South Bend's Wiekamp Hall swarmed with film-lovers, movie-makers, Tromaville fans and in the midst of it all stood a humble yet humorous Lloyd Kaufman, president of Troma Entertainment, Thursday night.

The festival began with eight short stories, The Interview, 4 Pictures, Signatures, The Vaudevillian, Pieces, 138 Arlington, and Severing the Soul

Kaufman presented his film The Toxic Avenger, a film about beaucratic labor elites infesting the small town of Tromaville with pollution.  The hero who brings "the man" down is a mop boy named Melvin a.k.a.  The Toxic Avenger, who ironically becomes disfigured and possess super human strength from toxic waste festering in their community.  The event ended with a brief Q & A session with Mr. Kaufman.

The River Bend Film Festival will continue beginning Friday, April 30 at 7 p.m. ending Saturday at midnight.  Friday night's screening is for the entire family including the Harvey Putter Preview.  Harvey Putter is a parody of the Harry Potter films.http://http://riverbendfilmfest.org/
