The two rivalries for the “Showcase Mode” for “WWE 2K15” were revealed today as Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H and John Cena vs. CM Punk, video game publisher 2K Games revealed via a press release today obtained by Examiner.

Spanning 2002-2004, the feud between Shawn Michaels and Triple H is one of the most memorable in WWE history. Following the end of their long-established friendship, the two engaged in a series of brawls that allowed the returning Michaels to reclaim his star power, while cementing Triple H as the “King of Kings.”

The Cena/Punk feud is set from 2011-13 and will take place during the time both Cena and Punk held their own versions of the WWE title following Punk’s epic “Summer of Punk” and infamous first “Pipe Bomb.”

To bring these epic feuds alive in “WWE 2K15,” both rivalries will have classic video included in a documentary style, with WWE Superstar commentary and cinematic cut-scenes.

“The moment Triple H ended his longtime friendship with ‘The Heartbreak Kid’ by slamming him with a Pedigree was a defining moment in WWE history,” Chris Snyder, Vice President of Marketing at 2K, said in today’s press release. “No fan can deny the fierce competition marking the notorious battles waged between Cena and Punk. These two rivalries are firmly etched in WWE history, and 2K Showcase enables fans to take part in those memorable experiences.”

According to 2K, there will be 33 matches available across both rivalries, with historical objectives set for each match, similar to last year’s Wrestlemania mode, which will unlock new characters, titles and attire that can be used across every mode in the game.

2K also said that additional rivalries will be available via DLC after the game’s release.

“Featuring two of the biggest rivalries in WWE history, including my storied matches with Shawn Michaels, there’s no doubt fans will experience the thrill first-hand through WWE 2K15,” Paul “Triple H” Levesque, Executive Vice President, Talent, Live Events & Creative at WWE said in today’s press release. “2K Showcase brings WWE to life in a way our fans have never seen before through a video game.”

“WWE 2K15” is set for a October 28 release in North America and will ship on October 31 internationally.
