Rising temperatures overnight with increasing clouds

Winter Storm Warning NW of I-71.... Winter Weather Advisory for points along and SE or I-71......

Anywhere from 4 inches near I-71 to as much as 12 inches near the Indiana border will be possible. Points I-71 and SE will see considerably lesser amounts as the majority of the precipitation of this storm will fall as rain with some mix before ending as snow. These areas will see 4 inches or less and some minor ice accumulations.

After the storm a Wind Chill Warning is in effect through Tuesday. Winds will increase with gusts to 40 mph causing blowing and drifting snow. These winds combined with high and low temperatures approaching -10 to -20 in some locations will make for wind chills near -40. This is the coldest air in 20 years and persons should use caution when out doors.

The following is the seven day forecast for the Dayton metro area and a 50 mile radius around it. Other metro areas like Columbus, Cincinnati, and Portsmouth are not included. For those areas please request a separate forecast. Thanks.

Tonight 1/4 - Increasing clouds. Winds S 5 to 15 mph. Low 30 early then rising to 36 by dawn.

Sunday 1/5 - Mostly cloudy, a slight chance of rain/sleet/snow early, then rain. (Snow far NW) Winds S 5 to 15 mph, becoming E. High 40, falling around sunset. Chance of rain 100%. Snowfall around an inch or less around I-71 (Snow 3 to 5 inches far NW)

Sun night 1/5 - Mostly cloudy, rain changing to snow before midnight, then scattered snow showers and blowing snow. Breezy. Winds NW 15 to 25 mph, gusts to 35 mph. Low -2. Chance of rain/snow 100%. Wind chills as low as -25. Snowfall around 1 to 3 inches around I-71. (3 to 4 inches far NW)

Monday 1/6 - Mostly cloudy, scattered flurries and blowing snow. Breezy. Winds NW 15 to 25 mph, gusts to 35 mph. High -2 falling to -10 by evening. Wind chills as low as -40.

Mon night 1/6 - Mostly cloudy. Winds W 5 to 15 mph. Low -14. (-20 in out lying areas) Wind chills as low as -40.

Tuesday 1/7 - Partly sunny. High 3.

Tues night 1/7 - Mostly clear. Low -1.

Wednesday 1/8 - Mostly cloudy. High 25.

Wed night 1/8 - Mostly cloudy, a chance of scattered snow showers. Low 21. Chance of snow 30%.

Thursday 1/9 - Mostly cloudy, a chance of scattered snow showers. High 32. Chance of snow 50%.

Thur night 1/9 - Mostly cloudy. Low 28.

Friday 1/10 - Mostly cloudy, scattered rain showers. High 42. Chance of rain 60%.

Fri night 1/10 - Mostly cloudy, scattered rain showers. Low 36. Chance of rain 70%.
