To commemorate Harley-Davidson’s 110th anniversary celebration taking place August 29-31, 2013 WAMI “Rising Star” Award Winner Nora Collins has released “Harley” as a digital download at cdbaby, iTunes and other digital services. “Harley,” written solely by Nora, is the opening track from her new acoustic CD “Only The Beginning.” You can listen to the track at Nora's website.
Nora was inspired to write “Harley” after she saw a 45 mile per hour speed limit sign while driving. In a previous interview with Nora she explained to me, “The song just poured out of me. I love to picture myself in situations and write about what I would experience if something was really happening to me. A night ride in the country on a Harley sounds like a lot of fun with a little bit of mystery.”
In a previous review of "Only The Beginning" I wrote about the track. In my opinion, "Harley" is an exceedingly catchy and well-crafted tune and imaginative in the narrative sense. The picture it paints as a song speaks of dangerous love, the thrill of the ride, and for Milwaukee, home of Harley Davidson, a bit of hometown pride thrown in for good measure. "Harley" takes the listener on a journey they won’t soon forget.
For Harley’s 110th celebration Nora is scheduled to perform at Hal’s Harley-Davidson in New Berlin on Friday August 30 from 10am to 1:30pm. The hard working musician is on pace for a third consecutive year of over 200 appearances and her busy summer schedule included opening for Country Music Star Josh Turner and American Idol season 9 winner Lee DeWyze. Nora's performance schedule can be viewed at her website.
“Only The Beginning” is the two time “Rising Star” award winner’s third CD and includes six original songs and four of Nora’s favorite cover tunes. All original songs were written or co-written by Nora. The title track was co-written with local favorite Willy Porter. This special acoustic CD features only vocals, guitar and fiddle. The CD is available at Nora’s shows and via direct mail. Selected tracks, including “Harley” are available for digital download at cdbaby, iTunes and other digital services.
