I’ve always strongly supported the independent filmmakers of the world. They’re hard working, determined, and most importantly, passionate artists. I’ve had the opportunity to get to know several of the top indie filmmakers in recent history, and now I’m adding another name to be reckoned with in the horror genre. While big budget film companies are scrambling after the latest remake or 3D technology, she’s surging forward with her characters, expanding her fan base, and creative outlets. Lia Scott Price may not be a household name now, but she’s undoubtedly a rising force in the horror genre.
Aside from the independent filmmakers, we’ve been handed recycled characters, plots, and even films for far too long. Lia Scott Price’s most notable characters, Serial Killer and Vampire Guardian Angels, are both innovative and refreshing. To think that we’ve always thought of our guardian angels as someone we could rely on to protect us from life’s evils and unpleasantness, only to find out that they’re all getting a little tires of all the pleading and complaining. The concept alone is an awaking and a thought provoking realization that life as we know it is not at all as it seems.
Lia Scott Price writes to purge the unpleasantness that she’s endured in her lifetime. She writes with passion and detail, she gets under your skin, bursts her way out and then leaves you wanting more. Her storytelling capabilities are incredible and she pulls you into her world. Sure, you’re terrified, nauseated, and maybe even horrified, but that’s why you’re reading a Lia Scott Price novel to begin with.

My DVD recommendation for today is Lia’s own “Dominion” (2006). Torrance, CA was considered one of the safest cities in Los Angeles County until a local horror novelist's character, a Vampire Guardian Angel, comes to life and throws the city's police force and its detective into a panic. Finding his victims through their prayers of despair and suicidal thoughts, this powerful new breed of Vampire is capable of hunting by daylight, is immune to religious objects, and is even deadlier at night. Don't pray in despair, because that's how he finds you! Enjoy.
