After achieving moderate success with the first two entries in the series, the development team behind “Risen 3” Titan Lords,” which hit stores and digital shelves yesterday, said their newest game is their biggest and baddest yet.
While the series has always been exploration heavy, “Risen 3: Titan Lords” takes that concept a step further and steps up the story in a way that you’ll want to see what happens next.
According to the game’s developers “Risen 3: Titan Lords” consists of over 50 hours of gameplay and a brand-new combat system. Piranha Bytes, the development team behind the other games in the series and the cult-favorite "Gothic" series, is no stranger to large epic adventures. But with the addition of swimming to the engine, “Risen 3: Titan Lords” developer Björn Pankratz said the game is their most expansive works to date.
“With Risen 3 we go straight back to our roots,” Pankratz told Examiner in an e-mail interview yesterday. “We created a game that has the best of all the games we have made so far. The immersion of the world is amazing. There is core interactivity, intriguing NPCs, many many terrifying monsters and cool items for you to gain. It has all the stuff that made Piranha Bytes games popular in the past and more. It is also the biggest game we have ever made. Be prepared.”
The sequel to “Risen 2: Dark Waters,” Piranha Bytes said gamers can expect more of the same open-world RPG action that made the last two games in the series cult favorites.
While the team isn’t ready to talk about the legacy of the series, they do have some hopes for its reception.
“I hope it will be something like to be the best, funniest, most complex and biggest one of the Risen series,” Pankratz said.
