Rise of the space butterfly: Genji joins 'Awesomenauts'

Ronimo Games is acquiring quite the cast of Internet celebrities. With the addition of Genji the Pollen Prophet, Jesse Cox becomes the third to join the ranks of the Awesomenauts. But while that’s all very good, how does Genji play as a character in this Dota-style side-scroller?

Genji is a combat support character designed for players who tend to play aggressively with Voltar the Omniscient. His three basic abilities are a single-shot attack that boomerangs back to him, a cocoon that can be used to immobilize enemies, and a short-ranged area of effect shield buff. Both his basic attack and shield aura can be augmented with a minor healing ability that allows Genji players to multitask somewhat yet dedicated healers are better off with Voltar. However, he also possesses several items that can turn the tide of a battle in the hands of a skilled player. Presently the most useful of these powers is the buff to his basic attack that generates a thundercloud at a set point, giving him some area-denial ability.

Genji is another impressive Awesomenaut in an already colorful lineup including genetically reconstructed cowboys and unemployed robotic super soldiers. I cannot wait to see what Ronimo does next. For more information about this new character and everything else about Awesomenauts, go here.
