3. A Matter of Faith: Reviving the Lost Legacy of Islamic Manners

Featuring: Imam Tahir Anwar

Details:

A famous Farsi poet wrote "Ba adab, ba taqdeer" - if you have good manners, you will have a good fate."

A narration from the blessed Prophet Muhammad says, "Indeed, I was sent only to perfect noble character," thus establishing the centrality of character to religious expression.

This course will cover essential aspects of virtuous conduct as they relate to kindness to parents, loyalty to friends, nearness with kin, respect with elders, and support for neighbors. It will also cover other aspects of daily life such as proper conduct in visiting and hosting others, conversing, consoling others, and even ways to increase fraternal bonds. The workshop will include lunch and is free and open to all.

Join us for a detailed exposition on the African narrative in Islam. Ustadh Muhammad Mendes will discuss the depth of African scholarship and contribution to Islam starting from the Sahabah all the way through the spread of Islam through Africa and to the Americas. He will also discuss the reasons that we know little about these historical figures. This will not be the average history lesson.
