As Christians, followers of Almighty God, doers of the Word, we are to bear fruit. According to the Word of God, we should display fruits of the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5:22 says, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness". We are like grapes on a vine, constantly being fed and watered by the Word of God and by the Holy Spirit.
Too often, we want to take what God has given us and run with it, jumping off of the Vine too go and do His work. That is fabulous in theory, but a grape pulled from the Vine too soon is a sour grape. Jesus told us in John 15:5, " I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing". He is our Vine, and He will prune us and make us more in His likeness if we will just hang and ripen under His loving care.
Detroit, I urge you to take the Word of the Lord seriously, and just stay on the Vine, ripening to a robust maturity in the Lord, and then go and spread His Word.
Until next time, may God bless and keep you and may His face shine upon you. To our Lord be praise and honor and glory and power, forever and ever, Amen.
