The new farmer’s market on the Northwest side of San Antonio had three successful summer previews. Beginning this Sunday September 8, 2013 Ripe: A Spirited Market at Éilan will now be a weekly event. This farmers market takes place at Éilan at the Promenade at the Éilan Hotel & Spa on La Cantera Boulevard.
The goal is to create a food destination that has ongoing food events like dinners, cooking demonstrations, cookbook signings and wine tastings. Live weekly music is also part of the agenda as well as family friendly fun activities like face paintings and arts and crafts. Ripe promises to be more than just a farmer’s market but rather a place to go for the ultimate in food, music and culture on Sunday afternoons.
Sustenio is the restaurant inside the Éilan Hotel & Spa and Stephan Pyles is the celebrity chef in charge. As part of this Sunday’s farmers market he and his team will lead two cooking demonstrations at 11a.m. and 1p.m. in Sustenio’s demonstration kitchen. There will also be live music and fun for the whole family. Food trucks will be available and guests can enjoy a $15 three course brunch at Sustenio.
Monthly market dinners are hosted by Sustenio and this month’s dinner will be on Saturday September 28, 2013. These dinners are also hosted in the demonstration kitchen by Chef Pyles where guests can watch the meal being prepared and interact with him. Reservations can be made by calling (210) 598-2950.
