Rip Torn: really, really can't wait for the bank to open on Monday.
Just in case you clicked the link because you think we have video footage of Rip Torn holding up a bank while plastered drunk, let me assure you that's not the case. Below you'll find the details behind frequent comedic actor Rip Torn's recent arrest-- he really was waving a gun around in a bank, and yeah, it was loaded (him and the gun; rimshot)-- as well as some video footage of Torn being Torn on "The Larry Sanders Show". Check it out, my gentle Examiner readers...
Hey, remember a few years back when Rip Torn got arrested, and that super-embarrassing video of him giving the cops up in NYC some seriously drunken lip got passed around online? Well, the video that's sure to follow this new Rip Torn fiasco's gonna be even better.
78-year-old actor, Rip Torn, has been arrested and charged with breaking into a Litchfield Bancorp in Salisbury, CT. Torn was spotted by local police inside the bank Friday night armed with a loaded weapon and drunk as a skunk. Law enforcement told TMZ.com Torn gained access through a broken window, which they believe Torn broke himself.
That's from an article over at Gather.com, where they're reporting what TMZ.com's reporting. And now we're reporting it. It's the "Entertainment Gossip Circle of Life". Hakunnak-Mattatah, mofo's. Anyway, after the police arrived, Torn was taken into custody and is now being held in lieu of $100,000 bail, with a February 1st court appearance now on his "To-Do" list.
The official charges? Glad you asked: First Degree Burglary, Criminial Mischief (Oh, Rip Torn, you scamp!), Carrying a Firearm While Intoxicated, First Degree Trespassing, and possession of a firearm without a permit. Yeesh, that's a steep bill. Hopefully, Torn saved some of the windfall he collected after "Freddy Got Fingered" made it big to bail himself out, huh? For those that may not immediately recall Torn, here's him doing what he does best:
Hey, that's not the clip we wanted to show! Roll the other one:

He's obviously in a lot of legal trouble. His picture says it all. He's such a fine actor. He's from my hometown and my Mother knew him when he was a little boy. I don't know him but I wish him the best.
Alcohol kills, cannabis heals.
I have a lot of sympathy for him, except he's endangering the lives of others.
Not noteworthy--just another h'wood nothing who can't function without someone writing him lines or showing him where to stand.
Taking into consideration that he's one lucky SOB who could have been shot by the cops for breaking and entering a bank with a loaded weapon, seeing that pic of him generates compassion.
He looks sad and bewildered, and franky looks like an elderly man in the throes of onset dementia.
I've always enjoyed watching him - he was knife-sharp on TLSS.
This is really a shameful finish to a distinguished career.
I'm a huge fan of The Larry Sanders Show myself. Too bad they haven't released the entire series on DVD!
