RIP Mr. Eko

Disappointing news this past weekend for most fans of “Lost.” Entertainment Weekly reports that Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who played “tailie” Mr. Eko, will not be returning for the series’ remaining three-plus episodes (including the two-and-a-hour finale). had already reported in early March that Akinnuoye-Agbaje wouldn’t be returning. Apparently, though, one or both sides still held out hope for a return.

Regardless of how badly either side wanted it (Akinnuoye-Agbaje reportedly wanted it badly and producers were amenable), there simply wasn’t time to complete a deal.

There you have it Mr. Eko fans. Eko’s death at the tendrils of the smoke monster early in season 3 is now the character’s official swan song.

Take heart though, plenty of old faces have already appeared in season 6 who will yet appear again (Dominic Monaghan for instance). There are also a handful of others who haven’t yet appeared who will.
