"RIP Demi Moore" trends on Twitter amidst Demi Moore death hoax

If anybody has had a rotten week, it's Demi Moore, and apparently some jokester on Twitter thought it'd be fun to kick her when she's down. Even though the dust hasn't completely cleared from Thursday night's “RIP Cher” prank, “RIP Demi Moore” took over Twitter Friday evening and many don't think it's very funny. Given the medically urgent situation Moore has been in the midst of this week, news of Demi Moore's death is cruelly jarring and far more believable for Scottsdale fans than most of the recent celebrity death hoaxes. As is often the case with these celebrity death hoaxes, Gossip Cop is setting the record straight once again.

Around 6 p.m. Scottsdale time Friday evening, “RIP Demi Moore” suddenly started popping up in Twitter streams. It is not readily apparent where the rumor began on Twitter, but Gossip Cop confirms that Demi Moore is not dead. Fans who have been following the situation know that she has been in the hospital, and many hope that sort of rehab is to follow. The details of Moore's health issues and addiction transgressions seem complicated and difficult enough without someone pulling the prank of spreading rumors she had died.

“RIP Demi Moore” quickly began trending on Twitter, though most users seem to either be commenting on how ridiculous it is or mocking it. Twitter seems to be the medium of choice for fake celebrity deaths over the past few months, but usually they are far-fetched and random. Many Twitter users think whoever started this one must have a particularly cruel sense of humor.

As Demi Moore struggles to regain her grip on sobriety and her life, fans can still catch her in any number of shows on television. For many, Ghost is one of their favorite Moore films, and it is airing Monday on AMC, channel 43 on Cox in Scottsdale. Indecent Proposal airs Sunday on channel 97, while the comical Beavis and Butt-head Do America featuring Moore and Bruce Willis is airing on HBO throughout the weekend.
