Riot Fest moved to Chicago’s Humboldt Park - which is publicly promoted as a picturesque gardens and lagoons with a view of the Chicago skyline - last year. Those in the know, however, will tell new Riot Fest-attendees to not stray from the event as it is totally surrounded by tough Chicago neighborhoods – the Humboldt Park neighborhood of the city’s West-Northwest Side located at North Avenue on the north, Division Street on the south, California on the east, and Sacramento on the west. Public transportation busses are available at most major intersections in the area, most notably on California and Division as well as California and North. The Fest is just a couple of miles west of a neighborhood known for its entertainment facilities for young people in their 20s, Wicker Park which is in the West Town portion of the city.
Riot Fest is basically a music festival featuring performers in the musical genre of punk, rock, and alternative. It was begun in 2005 in Chicago and has become known for a fest that features band-reunions, special appearances and the best of the popular punk band mainstays. The event moves to Denver, Colorado on September 21 and 22.
