The GRAMMYS announcement this morning about  presenters at the January 31 blow-out event had some folks abuzz about Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers.  For others,  there were major cheers when nine-time GRAMMY winner Ringo Starr was announced.

At 69-years-old, the former Beatle represents an entire generation that is redefining fitness and what it means to age well.

Last year on the Larry King Show, Starr told the talk show host:

I work out. I have a trainer. And I watch what I eat. That's it really. And I'm in love with a beautiful girl, so it keeps me young."

Starr will be celebrating his 70th birthday July 7, and according to NJ.com, will be performing that night at Radio City Music Hall.  And tho some Silicon Valley folks might well be headed to Los Angeles for the GRAMMYS or New York for the birthday bash, Starr's appeal extends to all ages.   The Beatles:Rock Band video game was a holiday gift that was popular with fans of all ages, and is available in Silicon Valley at Fry's and Best Buy.

Well, ringo's still not a handsome guy (he's ugly, to be honest), but he is in great shape, especially for his age. GOOD FOR him!!!

Years ago, Ringo said, (I paraphrase): "I never got -in- shape, so I never get -out of- shape." Seeing him look so good at almost 70 gave me hope for staying, "not-in, but not-out" of shape, by simply doing nothing. I'm disappointed that his original philosophy didn't continue to work for him. It was such a great concept.

Playing drums is a tremendous workout. Ringo was very ill as a young teen and spent a great deal of time in hospital -- which was where he learned two hobbies that he keeps up today (drumming and knitting).

I think he's an amazing man and an inspiration to many. Peace and love, Ringo. Peace and love.
