February 4 - The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced on Tuesday that former Beatle Ringo Starr would receive the 2,401st Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at a special nighttime ceremony on Monday, February 8. The ceremony will be held on the anniversary of when construction began on the famous Walk of Fame exactly 50 years to the day on February 8, 1960. Guests have yet to be announced, but the Los Angeles Unified School Districts’ All District High School Honor Marching Band will perform a special salute in Ringo Starr’s honor.
Officially dedicated in November 1960, the Walk now features 2,400 stars in the categories of television, radio, live theatre, motion pictures and recording. The Walk of Fame ceremonies draw international media attention and throngs of people to catch a glimpse of a favorite celebrity or Hollywood industry leader. The Walk of Fame is one of the top tourist draws in Los Angeles and most recognizable images of Hollywood.
Ringo Starr, who joined the Beatles in 1962, has had a long and successful career since The Beatles broke up in 1970. In 1971, Starr began his unprecedented run as the first solo Beatle to score seven consecutive Top 10 singles, starting with the release of “It Don’t Come Easy.” His second hit single, “Back Off Boogaloo,” was written with and inspired by T Rex frontman Marc Bolan. In 1973, Starr released his self-titled smash hit Ringo, which yielded three Top 10 singles, including the #1 hits “Photograph” and “You’re Sixteen (You’re Beautiful And You’re Mine).” Ringo also marked the first time since the breakup that all of The Beatles participated in the same project, though not at the same time.
Starr continued to release more hits, including “Only You” and “The No No Song.” In 1981, he recorded Stop and Smell the Roses, his most critically-acclaimed record since Ringo, while the ‘90s saw him release some of the best records of his career and he also found consistent success as a live act with his revolving All Starr Band. The touring met with great success and yielded Starr’s first live album, simply titled Ringo and His All Starr Band.
Ringo Starr was a presenter at this year's Grammy Awards along with Norah Jones. His 16th studio album, Y NOT, was released in January and he kicks off his 11th All Starr tour in June. On July 7, Ringo will celebrate his 70th birthday by performing at Radio City Music Hall in New York.
Ringo's star will be placed next to those of his former bandmates, John Lennon, who posthumously received a star on Sept. 30, 1988 and the late George Harrison, who received a star on April 14, 2009, in front of the historic Capitol Records building. Paul McCartney has not yet received a star. The Beatles star was included on the Walk of Fame on December 25, 1998, and placed next to Elvis Presley's star when that star was moved from its original location to a special spot at the corner of Hollywood Blvd and La Brea.

Speaking as someone who has been around a few years now,I recall when the Beatles first became famous and admired Lennon,McCartney and Harrison for their individual musical talent. However,Ringo Starr(using the word in the loosest sense!)never had,or has any musical talent(aside from being arrogant and making noise with the mouth!)and therefore basically got a "free ride"as someone with zero talent. The original guy Pete Best, was not only far more likeable, but also had a lot more natural talent as a musician.
In conclusion,I am quite amazed how people can listen, or like this little arrogant son of a bitch!! It might prove beneficial to dig a lot deeper into this guys background,as without the rest of the group he would never have made it in the world of music on his own. Amazingly big on the mouth, shame the arrogant little midget is not big on talent!
From a "Well-Wisher!!"
And all he's gotta do is act naturally! Good for Ringo, rock's least appreciated drummer. He certainly suited The Beatles in every musical way and their collective legacy will forever be unrivaled.
