Ringo Starr left no doubt Thursday that just as we were the first to report over a week ago there won't be a Beatles reunion at the Olympics in 2012.

The reason: He'll be on the road.

"I'll be touring America, so I won't be doing it," he told Sky News. Starr has previously announced that he also has a new album coming.

The former Beatle and wife Barbara Bach were in the UK attending the Glenfiddich MOJO Awards, sponsored by MOJO magazine where Starr was given the Icon award. Also among those honored were Brian Wilson, who was inducted into the MOJO Hall of Fame, and Donovan, who was given the MOJO Maverick Award.

On July 12, we reported exclusively that we'd contacted representatives of both Starr and Paul McCartney, plus Julian Lennon, about the rumors. All said the reunion reports were not true.

Julian Lennon was even more direct on his Facebook page, saying ""There will NEVER be a Beatles reunion, because two of the members of the band have since passed... And NO ONE could, or should try to replace them... End of.... x."

The news Ringo will be touring America next year is good news for American fans. He toured Europe this summer.
