A new documentary on B.B. King out on DVD in the U.S. June 17 has a little help from friends such as Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Bono and Bill Wyman. “B.B. King: The Life of Riley,” which will be released both on DVD and Blu-ray, is described as “a no holds barred” look at how King rose from a poor background and overcame racism in his rise to fame. It was produced by Jon Brewer and narrated by actor Morgan Freeman.
Contributors to the documentary include President Barack Obama, Ringo Starr, Joe Walsh, Bruce Willis, Bono, Carlos Santana, Buddy Guy, Dr. John, Leon Russell, John Mayall, Keith Richards, Mick Jagger and Bonnie Raitt. The UK Observer called the 123-minute film “the invaluable and definitive documentary of the last great bluesman, B.B. King.”
