According to Rogers Sportsnet, in an announcement made Saturday, Calgary resident Nick Ring will fight Chris Camozzi of the United States in UFC 158 in Montreal, Quebec on March 16.
Ring, who is 13-1, last beat Court McGee of the United States in UFC 149 in the third round at Calgary on July 21, 2012. Ring won unanimously in that fight, even though Tristen Critchfield on www.sherdog.com reported that McGee beat Ring 32-25 in round two and by a dominant score of 53-16 in round three.
Ring, who is a middleweight fighter originally from Cedar Falls, Iowa, was to fight Constantinos Philippou of Cyprus on November 17 in Montreal, but Ring needed to withdraw at the last minute due to illness.
Ring's fight against Camozzi is setting the table for the major fight on March 16. George St-Pierre of Saint-Isidore, Quebec, the current welterweight champion, and Canada's most recognizable mixed martial artist, will fight American Nick Diaz.
