As the ball drops on the end of yet another year, ComicsAlliance has released its list of the top action figure related toys of 2013. Keep in mind that these may not be your tops, but they are some of the better ones released this year. So, without further ado, let's get started!

More Photos

Starting the list is the latest offering from the Transformers franchise. The Transformers Generations Titan Class Metroplex figure is the most substantial Transformer ever!! It measures an impressive 24.5" tall in full robot mode! He transforms into two different styles, battle station and city scape. This figures comes in with a price tag of $125, but after looking at the pictures in the slideshow you will agree that it will be well worth it.

The second figure in the list is a group, the S.H. Figuarts Power Rangers Samurai box set. This was a San Diego Comic Con exclusive, but for those that couldn't attend they are still available on Bluefin Tamashii Nation's website for the amazing price of $225 for all five rangers. For those of you out there that may already collect other Rangers figures, these five will look great paired with the ones that you already have. All five figures look great with subdued metallic paint and they all come packaged with interchangeable hands, weapons, and other accessories. The perfect gift for any Power Rangers fan!

The third in the list is the TMNT Classics Bebop and Rocksteady action figures. These figures are reminiscent of the 1987 animated series and are in the same line as the Turtles figures that came out last year. These figures are much more articulated and larger than the figures that were released in the late '80s and early '90s. Although they are packaged with almost all of the same accessories as the other earlier figures. Hopefully Playmates will release a Shredder and Krang to round out the line and your collection!

The fourth in the list is Pokemon D-Arts Action Figures. I know, I know, these can't be that good to be listed in the same company as some of these others, but they are! Bandai has released four new figures, Charizard, Venusaur, Blastoise, and Mewtwo. They all feature amazing articulation and a variety of effect-related parts to allow fans the ability to recreate and pose their favorite signature moves. At an average of $40-$70 each, they are a little pricey, but look to be well worth the moola. And with a recently displayed Lucario figure, they could be looking to expand the line in the future.

The fifth in the list is Super7's Alien ReAction Figures. When the Ridley Scott film Aliens came out in 1979, Kenner toys, who made the now classic Star Wars action figures, went about making toys in line with the movies release, but didn't know how to handle making toys that might inspire nightmares in children. So they made one figure and called it quits on the line. However, prototypes from this line became talked about in quiet hushes and soon became legendary in the action figure world. It wasn't until this year that Super7 found a way to release this figures, based on the original sculpts, as part of its ReAction Figures line. The set comes with the "Big Chap" Alien, Ripley, Ash, Dallas, and Kane in a Nostromo spacesuit. They are available at Funko for $15 a figure or you can preorder the entire set for $65!

The sixth in the list is the Marvel Mini-Mates Iron Man 3 Hall of Armors 10-pack. These figures were originally only available as a San Diego Comic Con exclusive from Action Figure Xpress. It features 8 of the Armors that were showcased in the recent Iron Man 3 movie, including the Mark 42 armor! The entire set, which also includes Tony Stark and Pepper Potts, costs around $40 and is the perfect edition to any collector's arsenal of armors.

The seventh in the list is the Hot Toys Agent Phil Coulson. After the success of The Avengers movie and the subsequent popularity of the character, you would think that there would be more Agent Coulson toys. Hot Toys seems to be the only ones out there that have nailed the likeness of Clark Gregg in all of his S.H.E.I.L.D Agent goodness. He comes hyper-detailed in 1/6 scale with his Destroyer tech gun, Captain America trading cards, sidearm, sunglasses, two-way radio, cellphone, document folder, and an extra pair of hands. He retails for around $175, but it's well worth the price to own your very own mini-Clark Gregg.

The eighth and final one in the list are the NECA NES Jason/Freddy Action Figures. It should come as no surprise that NECA has yet again released highly detailed Freddy/Jason figures, they have been doing it for years. However, these two figures reflect the style they had in their 8-bit '80s Nintendo video game appearances. They come in video game box-like packaging which makes them even cooler than they already are. The Jason figure was recently released as a SDCC exclusive and is pricier than the Freddy, due to the fact that he is glow-in-the-dark! These two figures have been so well received by collectors that there is a Nintendo inspired RoboCop on the way in 2014.

I hope that this gives all you collectors and/or collector-adjacent people out there some kind of idea as to what available and where to find them. Keep collecting and remember, as always, they are not dolls.....they are ACTION FIGURES!! Happy New Year!
