Des Moines dueling piano act Pianopalooza will help music lovers ring in the new year at Wooly's (504 East Locust Street, Des Moines) on December 31. Doors for Wooly's New Year's Eve celebration will open at 8 p.m., and the music will run from 8 p.m. until 2 a.m. New Year's Day. Tickets for the show are $15 in advance and $20 at the door, and they are going fast. (All of the booths have already been reserved, and there are only a few tables remaining.) Tickets are available through the Wooly's box office or online through Ticketfly. This party will be open only to those 21 years of age and older.
Tony Bohnenkamp has done just about everything you can do in the music world over the past 20 years. He spent years as the drummer for Central Iowa favorites The Nadas, and he was the lead singer for Lunchbox. Bohnenkamp runs his own recording studio and is a producer, composer, and songwriter. The Aurelia, Iowa native, and current Des Moines resident, released his first pop rock solo album, entitled Side 2, in the spring of 2012.
Despite all his other projects, Bohnenkamp still finds plenty of time to perform dueling piano shows as part of Pianopalooza. Along with his partner Megan Hill, Bohnenkamp's Pianopalooza performs regularly throughout Central Iowa. The duo performs a diverse catalog of music, including numbers by Elton John, Billy Joel, Neil Diamond, Janis Joplin, Bohnenkamp himself, and other artists from the past five decades.
