Ring in the New Year in Ireland

Many runners from the area will be ringing in the New Year on December 31, 2011 with a run. The Jersey Shore Running Club’s New Year’s Eve Twilight Run this year will be held in Asbury Park with a great well lit course along the boardwalk.

The Run starts at precisely 5:30 PM with many runners dressed for the occasion. Registration, check in and t-shirt pick up will start at 4 PM at Porta which is located at 911 Kingsley Avenue in the city. Entry fee includes “Special” clothing item appropriate for the occasion to the first 300 entries.

Information and Registration

The runners will run a route along the Asbury Park Boardwalk.  After the run the fun begins with a post-race party to ring in Irish New Year at Porta which is one block in from the boardwalk across from the Stone Pony. That is when the celebration will start with an open bar and buffet for all the participants leading up to the countdown to New Year’s – in Ireland at our time 7 PM. There will be lots of prizes, contests and celebration to ring in the New Year.

The early start and finish will allow participants to either get home early or in in many other parties during the evening.

The event always attracts a diverse field of all ages and abilities. It’s a healthy way to kick off the New Year - in Ireland of course.

So runners if you are looking for a great venue to celebrate the New Year with your running friends you may want to check it out.

In the past many non-runners also participated either walking the 3 mile course or just joining in the celebration and the New Year’s Countdown.
