Ring of Honor Wrestling held their January supercard, "Wrestling's Finest" on Jan. 25 and featured the finals of the 2014 Top Prospect Tournament. Here is a look at the Ring of Honor Wrestling "Wrestling's Finest" results and recap for the big show.
There was one dark match that was promised to be shown on rohwrestling.com between some young talents. The match saw Moose, Nick Merriman and Marc Hauss beat Sik Rik Matrix, Chris LeRusso and Ryan Reigns. Moose got the pinfall victory.
As mentioned yesterday, Roderick Strong had to pull out of his match with Paul London due to a neck injury, and it turned out not to matter because London missed his flight and the show anyway.
The show opened with the new faction of The Decade (BJ Whitmer and Jimmy Jacobs) beating Adrenaline RUSH. It is nice to see Jimmy Jacobs actually having a direction to his career after floundering for the last year or two.
The finals of the Ring of Honor Wrestling Top Prospect Tournament was next with Hanson winning the tournament by beating Raymond Rowe. Now, Hanson will get a future TV title shot.
Michael Bennett beat The Romantic Touch in the next match with the Anaconda Vice submission hold.
The TV title match is up next and Matt Taven is out. Truth Martini comes out with the Hoopla Hotties to talk to Taven. Truth says the girls are worthless and fires them, killing the Hoopla. Taven said that if the Hoopla was dead, he has outgrown Truth Martini and he can leave too, so Martini leaves.
The TV title match saw champion Tommaso Ciampa beat Matt Taven and Jay Lethal in a three-way match. Ciampa pinned Taven when Truth interfered. After the match, Lethal and Ciampa had words.
Cedric Alexander beat Andrew Everett in the next match.
One-half of the Ring of Honor Wrestling world tag team champions Kyle O'Reilly took on Kevin Steen in the next match. Steen won by submission by using the sharpshooter.
After the match, Cliff Compton was in the crowd again. Steen told Compton that the only reason that he is relevant is because Colt Cabana put him on his podcast. Compton attacked. Steen hit the F-Cinq on the floor but Compton got the last strike when he hit the flying splash onto Steen through a table.
The main event was a tag team elimination match pitting world champion Adam Cole and Matt Hardy against The Briscoe Brothers and the tag team of Michael Elgin and Chris Hero. If anyone pins or makes Cole submit, they get a world title match. Matt Hardy pinned Jay Briscoe to eliminate the brothers. Chris Hero then pinned Adam Cole with the rolling elbow and now Hero gets a title show.
