In some big Ring of Honor news, the American Wolves have signed on to wrestle the Forever Hooligans for the IWGP junior tag team championship at “Death Before Dishonor XI.” According to PWS on Aug. 22, this is the same card that will determine the new ROH world champion.
The IWGP junior tag team titles is one of the biggest tag titles in Japan, and the match at the Ring of Honor event will be sanctioned by New Japan, one of the premiere wrestling companies in that country. “Death Before Dishonor XI” takes place in Philadelphia on Sept. 20.
That card will also feature the finals in the Ring of Honor world title tournament.
This comes shortly after the news broke that Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards will be getting WWE tryouts at the end of August. If the WWE chooses to sign one or both of them, there is a good chance they are allowed to finish out their ROH scheduled events, much like El Generico before them, and CM Punk before him.
The Forever Hooligans have been in Ring of Honor for a couple of months now and actually won the ROH world tag team titles from reDRagon before losing them to the American Wolves the next week. Whether or not history could repeat itself might be determined by Edwards and Richards’ contract situations.
Either way, Nigel McGuinness announced more Ring of Honor news as he said that, win or lose, the Forever Hooligans will also appear at the ROH TV tapings on Sept. 21.
