Ring of Honor Wrestling has been teasing a major big announcement for the last month with the news that it would come at the Honorcon event. PWInsider.com was at Honorcon on Feb. 22 and the announcement was actually three announcements, none living up to the hype that Ring of Honor Wrestling promised.
Ring of Honor Wrestling COO Joe Koff came out with Ring of Honor legend Delirious to make the announcement.
The first announcement was a "Future of Honor" show that will take place in the next two months. This show will feature wrestlers from the Ring of Honor Academy wrestling school as well as other independent wrestlers that might want to appear. There are five spots open and Ring of Honor welcomed anyone to send their info for the chance.
The second announcement was that Ring of Honor Wrestling is entering into a toy and trading card deal with companies and will license the Ring of Honor name for these endeavors.
The third, and apparently the big announcement they have been teasing, is that Ring of Honor Wrestling will team up with New Japan Pro Wrestling to hold two events in May in New York and in Toronto with stars from both companies competing.
This should provide some great matches as Ring of Honor has always enjoyed a wonderful relationship with Japanese competitors. The chairman of New Japan Pro Wrestling then appeared and said they were honored to team with Ring of Honor for the events.
