Ring in New Year at Sea World

If you're looking to get a head start on a Happy New Year in San Diego, what better way than to take in a fireworks show over Mission Bay?

We have it on good authority that the good people at Sea World plan to do just that in a five-minute display from their Sea World Drive locale.

The show is scheduled to start around 7:50 p.m. tonight and last for the aforementioned time frame.

And if you're really motivated, there's still time to get into the theme park for the last look at their Christmas extravaganza.

The highlights include:

Shamu’s Christmas, marked by the big fella and friends. See the  5,500-seat Shamu Stadium transformed into a winter wonderland and holiday scenes displayed on the  80-foot-wide big screen. Music, merriment, etc.

Also, Clyde and Seamore’s Night Before Christmas features puckish pinnipeds Clyde and Seamore  with a comic turn during a seasonal themed show featuring sea lions and otters.

If you're up to it, the SeaWorld Ice Skating Rink features more than 5,000 square feet of real ice near a 320-foot tall Christmas replete with nautical ornaments. (The  rink is scheduled to remain open  through Jan. 2.)
