Ring in 2012 with First Night Alexandria in Virginia

You can ring in the new year outdoors once again at First Night Alexandria 2012 the same way as First Night Alexandria 2011 and First Night Alexandria 2010 – at the George Washington Masonic Memorial. 6,000 balls will drop at a laser light finale to an afternoon and evening of family-friendly entertainment in Old Town Alexandria VA.

About 100 musical and other acts will fill various indoor venues during the evening before the outdoor finale at this Alexandria First Night tradition.

And you get out very close to the King Street Metro station for a safe ride home if you don't live in Alexandria Virginia.

First Night Alexandria VA, one of the more diverse and complete of first night celebrations in the area, actually starts in the afternoon – at 1 pm with activities for children and families, including the Third Annual (scavenger) Fun Hunt around town and various children's activities at the Torpedo Factory Art Center.

Live performances take place at 18 indoor venues between 7 and 11 at this Old Town Alexandria New Year's Eve celebration. Outdoor events at the Masonic Temple begin at 10 pm at what promises to be one of the biggest New Year's Eve parties around.
